The Australian Government welcomes Telstra's announcement today of solid third quarter results.
Telstra recorded strong sales revenue growth of one per cent, which was above market expectations.
We are particularly encouraged by the strong growth of 113 per cent in broadband subscribers which is a sign that Australian consumers are now wholeheartedly embracing these new services and the opportunities they offer.
We congratulate the Chief Executive Officer, Dr Ziggy Switkowski, the senior management team and the board on these positive results.
The Government looks forward to Telstra continuing to compete strongly in the telecommunications market.
