BETTER ACCESS TO GOVERNMENT INFORMATION AND SERVICES

Information about Australia, its system of government and government services is now available from one point with the launch of the new www.australia.gov.au web site.
The site is an integration of the best features of two current sites - www.australia.gov.au and www.fed.gov.au - and brings together a complete collection of Australian Government information and services.
The australia.gov.au site has been designed with input and feedback from users, ensuring the site is a more logical, yet comprehensive place to find Australian Government information or services, even if you don't know which government agency to contact.
Through the website, Australians, businesses or non-residents can find out about the Australian system of government or access facts about Australia.
More Australians are using the Internet to access Government services. In 2003, 36 per cent of Australian households with Internet connections and 71 per cent of businesses online were accessing e-Government services and information.
More importantly, according to the Australian Government Information Management Office (AGIMO) E-government Business Study, 80 per cent of users are finding it easier to access Government information and 75 per cent of users believe service delivery has improved thanks to the Government's online strategies.
The development of australia.gov.au is part of the Australian Government's ongoing commitment to make information about government and services more accessible, more connected and easier to find.
